Rockbridge Area Relief Association (RARA)

RARA free Neighborhood Grocery (formerly called the Food Pantry) is available to anyone who needs it. It is a client-choice model where you can shop for yourself based on family size, dietary needs and food preferences. In addition to standard items, we offer fresh produce, bread, and meat at every distribution. We also stock health and hygiene items, and laundry detergent and temporary help with past due electric, water, and heating bills. In some instances RARA provides emergency shelter to transient families, as well as referrals to other help agencies. RARA does not cover assistance for the purchase of clothing, prescriptions, medications, or phone bills. The HelpLine accepts applications by phone only. For “after hours” emergency assistance, contact the Police Department. Please note that it often takes 2 business days to help prevent a utility cut-off. Call us to submit an application, or start one online below. If we are closed, leave a detailed message. No walk-ins please. Families may visit once a week, and No documents Or ID are required.
